Chandigarh, 2 December 2015 (Bharat Sandesh News):– The Government has approved setting up of Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre (HBCH&RC) at Mullanpur Village, Mohali district, Punjab and a Satellite Centre at Sangrur .
The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) vide OM No.1/3(5)/2012/TMC/ R&D-II/Vol.II/12444 dated October 4, 2013 has conveyed approval of the President for XII Plan Project of Tata Memorial Hospital titled “Establishment of Cancer Hospital in Punjab” at an estimated cost of Rs 480 crore and released the grant of Rs 35 Crore so far.
The Department has concentrated first in setting up of satellite centre to main Hospital in Sangrur in the land and building provided by Punjab Govt. and Radiotherapy, Chemotherapy, Laboratory, Radio-diagnostic services, dispensary services, Dharmashala facilities for patients and attendants etc., are established and fully functional since January 2015 as per schedule. It has been decided to carry out the construction work of the main hospital in Mullanpur through Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) mode to speed up completion of project EPC Consultant has been appointed. Since we have not received good response against our initial tender we had to readvertise for EPC developer. The delay in starting construction work has occurred due to identification and finalisation of EPC Developer.
