Amritsar, 10 Dec 2014 (Bharat Sandesh News):– Dr Charanjit Singh Gumtala patron , Amritsar Vikas Manch has urged the Central government to provide RTI facility under RTI act 2005 on phone on the pattern introduced by Bihar Govt. In a memorandum to the president Sh.Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Mr Narinder Modi, manch leader stated that Bihar Govt. started a scheme called Jaankari on 29 January 2007 in collaboration with BSNL.
Any person can call phone number 155311, costing Rs. 10/per call (Rupees Ten per call) to take care of the prescribed application fee and generate RTI application on behalf of the caller. The person who listens the call, notes the needed information. Within 30 days needed information is supplied to the applicant by post. The objective of this scheme is to ensure transparency and to expand its reach to villages, where the literacy rate is low. It is very useful for everybody, who can get information without having to visit the office.
According to Gumtala, he wrote a letter on September 5,2012 to the then prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh and got reply on October 16,2012 that your proposal is under active consideration. But more than 2 years have been passed, this facility has not been provided. He hoped that new government will set up the same system which Bihar has set up so that everybody can get information easily.
