Amritsar, 8th Dec 2014 (Bharat Sandesh News): “Include Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport, Amritsar in the list of airports where E-visa is available”, has been demanded by Dr. Charanjit Singh Gumtala, patron Amritsar Vikas Manch . In separate letters to prime minister Sh. Narinder Modi, minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj,chief minister S Parkash Singh Badal, Finance Minister Sh. Arun Jaitly, Manch leader stated that Amritsar Vikas Manch appreciates the initiative to provide the facility of online visa for 43 countries including the US, Australia, Japan, Israel, Germany and Singapore.
Now travelers can apply for a visa from the comfort of their homes and receive a visa within 72 hours. However , the Manch will be highly grateful to the ministry of external affairs if the most important airport of India and most preferred destination of international travelers Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport, Amritsar is also included in the list. The facility is available on nine airports ,Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram.
At present Qatar Airways, Uzbekistan Airways, Turkmenistan Airlines beside Air India operate from Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport, Amritsar. These airlines fly directly to international destinations with connecting flights from their respective country. Amritsar airport has the same importance as other nine airports and E-visa for Amritsar will promote Punjab economy .
