LUDHIANA, FEBRUARY 23: The agricultural engineering students of Hostel no.4 of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a function “Elixir 12 of Engineers,” recently, wherein various sports events, both indoor and outdoor, also took place.
Speaking on this occasion, the chief guest Dr D.S. Cheema, Dean, College of Agriculture-cum-Director Students’ Welfare, PAU, exhorted the students to work with team spirit. Participation in sports and co-curricular activities helps the students to exhibit their talent and creativity. It plays a vital role in all-round personality development of the youth, he added. He gave away the prizes to the winners of sports events and lauded the efforts of the organizers Mr Ramandeep S. Romana and Ms Manpreet Kataria.
Inaugurating the sports events, the Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Dr PPS Lubana motivated the students to continue participating in sports and cultural activities. By organizing such programmes, the feeling of brotherhood develops amongst the seniors and juniors. He also advised the youth to maintain discipline in life and inculcate a sense of social responsibility.
During the events, the team of B.Tech-III year (SPARTANS) clinched overall Champions Trophy and registered victory in table tennis, chess, sweep, cricket, volleyball and tug of war. The team of B.Tech-II year (WARRIORS) won runners-up trophy.
Present on the occasion were senior officers of PAU including Dr J.S. Mahal, Estate Officer, Dr Jaspal Singh, Chief Engineer, Dr S.S. Sooch, Director, School of Energy Studies and heads, faculty members and hostel wardens of the university.
