Holistic approach is required to improve state of Agriculture |
 Ludhiana, 3rd September 2010:- Maharana Partap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur’s, Vice-Chancellor, Prof S.S Chahal said that state of agriculture in the country could not be improved until holistic approach with special emphasis on post harvest management is adopted at national level. He was here at Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) to discuss progress of NAIP Project on underutilized crops, which was jointly undertaken by MPUAT and CIPHET.Saying that increasing more production in isolation would not help, Prof S.S Chahal said that we were losing lot of grains, fruits and vegetables due to poor post harvest handling. “Still lot of food grains of country is rotting due to unscientific management. Cap storage of food grains is just meant for two three months as stop gap arrangement. But in our country grains are stored for years in this manner. Leading to hundreds of crore of losses every year,” he said, suggesting that we need to spend on silos storage in a phased manner. |

Rs. 42 crore released under PMGSY |

SHIMLA, 3rd September, 2010(Bharatsandesh news) A Government spokesman said here today that Ministry of Rural Development has released first instalment of Rs. 42 crore under PMGSY for rural roads connectivity in the State. He said that the funds were given through Special Window under RIDF in NABARD to Himachal Pradesh Road Development Agency as grant-in-aid. Spokesman said that Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna was a central sponsored scheme which provided road connectivity in rural areas. He said that villages having 500 or above population in rural areas and 250 or above in hilly and tribal areas are being provided road connectivity under the scheme. |
