Rs. One lakh contribution towards CMRF

SHIMLA,  5th September, 2010(Bharatsandesh news) Shri Ravinder Ravi, Irrigation and Public Health Minister  accompanied by Cap. Atma Ram, MLA, presented a draft of Rs.  One  lakh on behalf of Shri Manoj Awasthi  of Meridian Homes, Mumbai, as contribution towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, here last evening.

Chief Minister thanked his Cabinet colleague and MLA for motivating corporators to donate liberally towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, which was the only source of helping poor and needy in the hour of distress.

  He said that donations made were exempted under income tax provisions.  He appealed to the people to donate liberally towards the Fund so that more deserving persons could be provided financial assistance to get themselves medically treated to lead a healthy life.

 
Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition 2010 concludes at UILS

5 September 2010 - The final rounds of the ongoing Surana & Surana National Trial Advocacy Moot Court Competition (India North Rounds) 2010 concluded in the moot court hall of the University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS). There was stiff competition between the finalists consisting of NLIU, Bhopal and RGNUL, Patiala. The teams were judged by eminent and Hon’ble Judges of the Punjab & Haryana High Court namely Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajive Bhalla, who very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ranjit Singh Randhawa and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vinod K. Sharma.

The valedictory ceremony was presided over by Padma Shri Prof. R. C. Sobti, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University. He promised that measures to extend the moot court hall would be taken in UILS before March 2011 for imparting better clinical training and conducting moot court competitions. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Rajive Bhalla in his valedictory address complimented the efforts and confidence of the participants and wished them a bright future. Mr. G. K. Chatrath, Dean Faculty of Laws, promised the construction of a new girls hostel exclusively for law students of the University. He also announced monetary awards for Best Teachers and Students of law to be given in October. Mr. Ravichandran, Head, Academic Initiatives, Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai also thanked the organizers for conducting the moot court competition smoothly.
